We're back!!!

Had a fabulous 2 child-free nights with my husband!!!! We reached Mineral Point around 6pm Friday night, checked into our room and went downstairs to dinner. Dinner was fabulous!!!!! And the tiramasu even better ;). Took a nice long soak in the huge tub and read in bed. Fabulous! Woke up Saturday morning to check out the farmer's market, had coffee at The Spotted Dog (best chai latte I've ever had!), had lots of fun listening to the locals at coffee, shopped some, ate a pasty for lunch at the Red Rooster, and shopped some more. Mineral Point is a super quaint town in southern WI that was settled by miners from Cornwall. Lots of great little shops and a haven for artists.

Speaking of artists, we went into a gallery that had works by Tom Kelly that both of us loved...very whimsical with great colors. We asked the owners if they knew where he was from and they replied with...that's him that you hear whistling from his studio! She took us back to meet him and we decided to have a piece commissioned for Sawyer's room. Then he shows us his portfolio and turns up he's the artist for the covers of the Land's End holiday catalogs! I thought his work looked familiar! He was really fun to talk to and he even remembered us from coffee earlier in the day.

I also had a little too much fun in a yarn shop (considering I really don't knit...yet) and am currently working on a scarf

and can't wait to make something out of this next!

Saturday night we saw Much Ado about Nothing at the American Player's Theater in Spring Green. It's just like seeing something at the Guthrie but it's outside...imagine a crisp cool night, cuddled up under a cozy blanket, crickets chirping, stars twinkling, and a Shakespearean comedy...can it get much better? Not really. The play was wonderful and the evening was topped off with tiramasu (yes - again) back at our room.

Sunday (sigh) was travel day but we decided to stop in Mount Horeb first for lunch and a bit of a walk around. We had lunch at The Grumpy Troll (a microbrewery) and husband tried the sampler....

Let's just say....he had some fun with the beer sampler!

We got back home around 6pm Sunday night and it's back to normal here. Back to work tomorrow! Have a great Labor Day, everyone!
